1500 young people. Handel's Messiah. The Royal Albert Hall.
COVID 19 - THE DISRUPTION CONTINUES
It looks as if the disruption to education caused by COVID-19 is set to continue into 2022, particulary affecting the first three months of the year when all our planning and choir recruitment normally takes place.
We are therefore sorry to announce, yet again, that there will be no Scratch® Youth Messiah in 2022. This project, first devised by us in 2013, has enabled more than 6,000 young singers to share a unique choral experience, and remains close to our hearts. Securing a future for the Scratch® Youth Messiah remains high on our agenda, and updates will be posted here as soon as we have information to share.
In the meantime it is sometimes possible to make school group bookings for our other UK concerts. Have a look at our ‘parent’ website for options www.trbc.co.uk and email firstname.lastname@example.org to enquire about group rates. We regret that it is not usually possible to offer reduced rates for our annual Messiah from Scratch®.
The Scratch Youth Messiah is a unique music education event bringing together up to 1,500 singers aged 7–25 to perform Handel’s Messiah in the Royal Albert Hall in the run-up to Christmas.
All young choirs are welcome! You can sing anything between four and thirteen choruses – just as much a you can manage. You then join a professional orchestra and fantastic young soloists under the baton of Ben Parry, Artistic Director of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain, for a thrilling performance, singing the timeless music of Handel’s Messiah.
With a very modest registration fee per choir, this is an incredible opportunity for all young people to sing to a large audience in the beautiful and iconic Royal Albert Hall. Your singers will experience making music with hundreds of others, and work with a first-rate orchestra, conductor and soloists. Come and join us!
